Sri Lanka, batting first, owed their respectable total of over 200 runs largely to the young Janith Liyanage, who notched up his maiden ODI century. Liyanage’s composed innings of 101 runs off 102 balls propelled Sri Lanka’s innings, despite a flurry of injuries that plagued both teams towards the end.

The match witnessed a series of unfortunate injuries, with Bangladesh losing several players during the game. Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar suffered injuries during fielding incidents, while substitute fielder Jaker Ali had to be hospitalized due to a concussion after colliding with Anamul Haque. Additionally, umpire Tanvir Ahmed had to step in for Richard Kettleborough, who fell ill due to the intense heat.

Despite the challenges posed by injuries and the loss of wickets, Bangladesh managed to maintain their composure and secure a crucial victory. The win showcased the team’s resilience and determination to overcome adversity on the field.
