IPL 2024 Match Schedule announced, CSK to face RCB in the Opening Match on 22 March

Former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, long-time acquaintances, are set to compete against each other in the inaugural match of the 2024 Indian Premier League. This showdown will take place as the defending champions Chennai Super Kings play host to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. Despite the timing coinciding with general elections, the league is slated to commence on March 22, with all matches scheduled to be held in India. Arun Dhumal, the IPL chairman, had previously disclosed to The Indian Express that the schedule for the first 15 days, comprising 21 matches, has been finalized.

For newly appointed Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, the commencement of his leadership journey will involve facing a familiar opponent, as his team takes on the Gujarat Titans in their opening game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Another noteworthy aspect of the schedule announced recently is that the Delhi Capitals will be hosting their first two home games in Visakhapatnam. This decision comes after the DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) requested additional time to prepare a fresh playing surface for the league, following their hosting of 11 WPL games in succession, including the final on March 17.

According to the tournament format, the ten participating teams are divided into two groups of five. During the group stage, each team competes in 14 matches, playing against the other four teams in their group twice (once at home and once away), the four teams in the opposing group once, and the remaining team twice.
