JNU Clash: ABVP and Left-backed Groups Clash

A confrontation erupted between ABVP and Left-backed groups at JNU over the results of the election committee selection, resulting in injuries and police complaints.

A clash between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Left-backed groups at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi left several students injured. The altercation, which began over disputes regarding the selection of election committee members at the School of Languages, quickly escalated into violence.

An official of the university said some students have been admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital, reported PTI.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) has been organizing school-level general body meetings to select election committee members.

A widely circulated video on social media platform X depicts a man wielding a stick and attacking students. In another video, an individual is seen hurling a bicycle at students.

Additional purported videos from the incident depict individuals being mobbed and assaulted by a group, despite attempts by university security personnel to intervene and rescue them.
