Lalu-Tejashwi Forge New ‘YK’ Alliance, Promoting Yadav-Kushwaha Unity in Bihar

Politics in Bihar is heating up, with the state assembly elections still over a year away. However, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has already begun preparing for the polls by reaching out to key voter groups. In a significant political move, RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav are working on a new caste combination, dubbed the ‘YK’ alliance, which stands for Yadav-Kushwaha. The slogan ‘Yadav and Kushwaha are brothers’ was prominently promoted during a recent event organized by the party.

The occasion was the commemoration of the martyrdom of Jagdev Prasad, a prominent leader, at the RJD headquarters. Thousands of party workers from across Bihar, particularly from the Kushwaha community, gathered for the event. Initially, it was only Tejashwi Yadav who was expected to attend, but the surprise appearance of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav alongside his son caught many by surprise.

A Call for Unity Between Yadav and Kushwaha Communities

During the event, Tejashwi Yadav emphasized the importance of unity between the Yadav and Kushwaha communities. He declared that there would be no more conflict between the two groups, urging them to stand together. In a passionate speech, Tejashwi called for Jagdev Prasad to be honored with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

He went on to assure the Kushwaha community of the RJD’s continued support. “Lalu Ji and I will always be there for the Kushwaha community,” he said, thanking the community members for their attendance and loyalty to the party.

Promises of Greater Representation for Kushwahas

Tejashwi Yadav also made a significant promise regarding political representation. He highlighted that in the last Bihar assembly elections, the RJD had given the highest number of tickets to the Kushwaha community and assured that this would continue in the upcoming elections. “The Kushwaha community will receive the largest share of tickets in the next election as well,” Tejashwi pledged, aiming to solidify the community’s support for the RJD.

Criticism of Government and Call for Backward Class Unity

In a broader political message, Tejashwi called on all backward communities to unite against what he described as the central government’s attempt to dismantle the reservation system. He criticized the growing privatization of government sectors and contrasted it with the time when Lalu Prasad Yadav was in power, claiming that during his father’s rule, common people were treated with respect by officials.

Taking a swipe at the current Bihar government, Tejashwi accused it of being run entirely by bureaucrats, leaving even ministers powerless. He stressed that in a democracy, the people are the real masters, and the RJD is committed to ensuring their voice is heard.

With this new alliance, Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav aim to bring together the Yadav and Kushwaha communities, potentially forming a strong vote base in the upcoming elections.
