PM Modi marked International Women’s Day with a significant announcement, revealing a ₹100 reduction in cooking gas cylinder prices. The announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter), aims to alleviate the financial burden on households, particularly benefiting women.

PM Modi expressed the government’s commitment to empowering women, ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them. This move aligns with the government’s dedication to supporting the well-being of families and promoting a healthier environment by making cooking gas more affordable. The reduction comes as a step towards achieving these goals and providing economic relief to millions of households nationwide.

The 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder, which costs around ₹900 ($11) in Delhi, will see a notable reduction due to this initiative. In addition to the reduction in LPG cylinder prices, the government has also extended the ₹300 per cylinder subsidy under the Ujjwala Yojana for the next fiscal year starting April 1. This subsidy extension is aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged women, providing them with continued financial assistance in accessing essential cooking fuel.
