Skoda Unveils Plans for All-New Compact SUV in India, Scheduled for 2025 Debut

Chennai, February 27, 2024: Škoda Auto India has announced its foray into the highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment with the upcoming launch of an all-new compact SUV. This exciting addition to the Škoda lineup is expected to debut in India sometime in the first half of 2025.

This new offering will join the existing Škoda Kushaq and Slavia models, further expanding the brand’s presence in the growing Indian SUV market. While details about the new model remain scarce, Škoda has confirmed it will be positioned within the popular sub-4 meter segment, adhering to Indian tax regulations and catering to a wider customer base.

Analysts predict the new SUV will likely be based on the MQB-A0 IN platform, which underpins the Kushaq and Slavia, and possibly share some design elements with its siblings. It is also speculated that the car might be offered with the 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine currently used in the Kushaq and Slavia, catering to fuel efficiency and tax benefits.

The introduction of this new SUV reflects Škoda’s commitment to the Indian market and its ambition to capture a larger share of the burgeoning SUV segment. With its established brand reputation and focus on practicality and value, Škoda is expected to face stiff competition from existing players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia.

The announcement has generated significant buzz in the Indian automotive scene, with car enthusiasts and potential buyers expressing their anticipation. The coming months are expected to reveal further details about the new Škoda SUV, including its official name, design features, engine specifications, and pricing. This will provide a clearer picture of Škoda’s strategy and its potential impact on the Indian car market.
