Xavi implements intriguing lineup adjustments in the FC Barcelona vs. Granada match, featuring one significant comeback

Xavi Hernandez is set to welcome back goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to the starting lineup as FC Barcelona hosts Granada at the Montjuic Stadium on Sunday evening.

Ter Stegen has been sidelined since November 12 due to discomfort from a lumbar hernia, missing a total of 17 games. After unsuccessful attempts to return to action, Ter Stegen underwent surgery on his lower back on December 8 in Bordeaux.

Now, after three months out, during which Inaki Pena has stepped up admirably, Ter Stegen will return to guard the goal for a crucial La Liga clash against Granada, a team that Barca previously drew 2-2 with earlier in the season.

For this vital fixture, 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi will debut defending the goal, alongside Inigo Martinez in the heart of the defence. Joao Cancelo will be a left-back out of position, while Jules Kounde occupies the opposite flank.

In midfield, Andreas Christensen will act as the pivot behind a more attacking duo of Frenkie de Jong and Ilkay Gundogan, as Xavi reverts to a four-midfielder system. Pedri will assume the role of the false left-winger, with Raphinha on the bench due to a recent injury, and Lamine Yamal selected for the right wing.

Upfront, Robert Lewandowski will lead the attack, while Vitor Roque is suspended after receiving a double yellow card in the previous match against Alaves.
